Co-Curation

As part of our project, we are co-curating a film and exhibition at the Aberystwyth Arts Centre from November 2022 until the end of January 2023. Co-curation involves ordinary people in the making of anything that a museum/cultural institution produces, whether that be object interpretation, displays, exhibitions or artwork. It is a collaborative and two-way process designed to increase participation amongst visitors, reach new audiences, help people to develop skills and build confidence, and provide a place for community engagement.

For our project, we are working with local refugees and volunteers in Mid, West and North Wales. We want to highlight refugees’ experiences and raise awareness of refugees and the issues they face in Wales, both historically and in the present. We will be holding a number of events and workshops throughout the project to engage with local refugee communities and collaborate on creating the exhibition and film.
