AI Research Hub Symposium

Call for presentations

AI Research Hub Symposium ‘Our Enabled World’ (Pushing Humanity Forward) provides a cross-disciplinary platform that brings together, and connects, researchers and practitioners from multiple disciplines on local, regional and international levels.  It aims to showcase the research of academics, practitioners, and research students across Aberystwyth University and its stakeholder networks.

You are invited to submit a 15-minute presentation for consideration, to be presented at the symposium. This call is open to preliminary/ongoing work in all areas of AI research and practice which could include, but is not limited to, the following themes:  Exploration and Discovery, Ethics, Behaviour AnalysisPredictive Modelling, AI Theory & Development, Interventions, Creation.

Ysgol Haf AI Aberystwyth | Aberystwyth AI Summer School

The AI Hub Summer School is an annual event funded by the AI Hub and Graduate School, and aims for supporting the career development of researchers. 

The school runs in-person and is a week-long, intensive course with a mixture of interactive seminars, lectures and hands-on practical sessions.  The desired learning outcomes of the school are:  

1. Formulate a research problem that can be addressed using AI approaches.  

2. Familiarize with Python for data processing and application of AI approaches.  

3. Decide which AI approach would suit best to address the specified problem.  

4. Design and implement a personalized data processing and modelling pipeline.  

5. Evaluate the performance of the pipeline in terms of accuracy, robustness, and usefulness.  

6. Deliver a presentation.   

The school is open to anyone (at any level and from any discipline) who is interested in applying AI into their research and has a dataset in hand. Some programming knowledge would be advantageous, but support will be provided for those who have no prior programming experience. Postgraduate research students and early career researchers are particularly encouraged to apply.

The AI Hub Summer School 2024 will take place between 15th and 19th of July 2024.

Researchers are invited to join us to find out about the upcoming plans from the Aberystwyth University Research Hubs Research Hubs : Research, Business & Innovation , Aberystwyth University.

This will also provide an opportunity to visit Tŷ Trafod Ymchwil (Research Dialogue Hub), and to learn how to use and reserve the new space, which will be made available for all researchers.

CYFLWYNO’R HWB DA | INTRODUCING THE AI HUB

As part of the University’s Research and Innovation strategy it has been decided to establish multidisciplinary research Hubs in three strategic research areas. Lead by Christine Zarges, Helen Miles, Huw Morgan, Jungong Han, Otar Akanyeti, Reyer Zwiggelaar, and Sophie Bennett-Gillison the AI Hub welcomes participation from across the research community to develop new research initiatives and provide support to cross disciplinary barriers. Please see document attached for more details.

As a starting point on this journey the AI Hub will be holding a workshop on the 4th April 2022 between 12- 3pm.  Lunch will be available around 1pm. (Details to follow on registration)

The aim of the workshop will be:

•            To introduce the AI Hub

•            To bring together researchers with an interest in key AI issues/applications

•            To help foster networking

•            To scope for collaborative AI and AI application research ideas
